Modal Electronics CARBON8M is a groundbreaking 8-voice polyphonic synthesizer module that takes sound creation to new levels with its innovative sound engine and exceptional modulation features. Designed for musicians who want to experiment with next-generation synth sounds, the CARBON8M incorporates twice as complex a sound engine as its predecessors in the ARGON8 and COBALT8 series.

Equipped with two high-resolution oscillators and 56 complex digital waveform cores per oscillator, this synthesizer offers a unique selection of 18 digital algorithms and 38 sophisticated wavetables. The oscillators, combined with the XCore Modifiers such as Wave Shape, Wavefolding, and Phase Distortion, allow users to create bold and experimental sounds with unprecedented character and depth.

The CARBON8M features an extensive filter section with 34 different filter types, including morphable filters that enhance the sonic versatility and provide endless options for sculpting sounds. The modulation section includes three audio-rate LFOs with over 15 different wave shapes, as well as three envelope generators that offer detailed control over pitch, filter, and amplitude. The 12 modulation slots and additional fixed routings provide ample flexibility for sound manipulation.

For creating and performing complex sequences, the CARBON8M includes a polyphonic real-time sequencer with 512 notes, four parameter animation lanes, and a 32-step programmable arpeggiator. This makes it ideal for both studio production and live performances. With the built-in stereo effects engine, featuring 26 different algorithms, including Drive, Reverb, Phaser, and Delay, musicians can further enhance their sound with high-quality effects.

The CARBON8M is housed in a sturdy steel and aluminum enclosure, making it both rugged and portable. The intuitive interface includes 13 encoders, 9 buttons, and a four-axis joystick for modulation control, providing easy access to the full range of parameters. It also supports MPE for sophisticated expressive performance.
